What is this class about?

As the landscape of healthcare continues to evolve in the Post COVID-19 era, so does the professional and ethical responsibility of the dental hygienist. Society has endured unexpected job loss, furlough, and unemployment; our communities have experienced fear of health risks and their overall safety; and our patients have unanswered questions. However, now more than ever, our community is also educated and knowledgeable on infection control, disease susceptibility, risk factors, and the importance of prevention.

In this post-COVID era, now is the time to reassess our profession by focusing on the integral role dental hygienists play as preventive and infection control specialists in the field of allied healthcare. This role, however, must be fulfilled by taking off the dark and BLINDING shades and refocusing our SIGHTS, acknowledging that we must become PUPILS in re-learning how to apply our foundational knowledge.
