How IV Sedation TRANSFORMS Patient Care

I was actually talking to my dad yesterday, and he’s like, oh, “Who gets sedation? Is it just people that get surgery?” I was like, No, people get it for cleanings. People get it for regular fillings.

I was told yesterday that there are some patients out there who get sedation for a checkup because they just don’t even like someone looking in their mouth. Maybe they haven’t been there for so long that they feel very self-conscious about it and just being somewhat asleep helps. And he was very surprised to hear that.

There are a lot of patients out there that don’t know these are services that can be offered. Dentists also may know it, but they may not think it’s necessary. I feel like it adds a level of comfort to the patients, and I do a lot of surgery. And for patients who are already hesitant towards getting treatment done, especially surgical intervention, it’s like, hey, we can also do this for you.”

While you’re under sedation, we can take care of all these things that you’ve been keeping on the back burner for a long time in one appointment. Let’s get as much done in the shortest amount of time while making sure you’re not lowering the standard of care. And I hope that I’m able to do that, and that’s why I came for a sedation course.

There was one person a few days ago who was like, oh, when are we going to get started? And I was like, we’re done. That’s it. And he was like, no way. He honestly thought I was messing with him. But those are some pretty cool experiences.
