We’re missing a demographic of folks that genuinely have a true phobia of coming to the dentist. And they don’t want anything different than what you or I want, which is straight white teeth that look decent and work, and they don’t have them because it just frightens ’em to death to come in.
And so I think if we can provide that opportunity, I think it’ll be great.
Hi, my name’s Dr. Eric Herman. I’m here at the Vesper Institute for the IV Sedation course.
When you really get into the nuts and the bolts of it, you don’t have the control with the oral conscious sedation that you do with IV sedation. It’s just a little more fast acting and also it wears off faster. And I think also maybe something that’s a misnomer within dentists is that there confusing mild, moderate, deep sedation, and general anesthetic. It’s not general anesthesia, it’s just a moderate sedation. It’s really safe.
We are a general practice office in Vincennes, Indiana. We treat pretty much what most every general practice office does from extractions to fillings and root canals and crowns. Been using local anesthetic and nitrous and even oral conscious sedation for quite a few years. Feel like doing IV sedation is probably the next logical step to maybe treating our patients the best that they can really be treated.
The profitability is probably the least of my concerns, really. I think it’s probably just delivering care to a demographic that needs care and largely doesn’t get it.
I would encourage you to anybody who’s thinking about doing it, I think I would say go for it. I mean, I think a big part of your success on your journey is just saying yes to opportunities that come in front of you.
Our program goes beyond certification – it’s a pathway to a more focused, profitable, and fulfilling dental life.
